Crow Henbane

- CROW HENBANE -

This is the first ink design of my "Bones & Nature" serie, entitled CROW HENBANE: A crow skull in the moonlight, with crossed claws and decorated with Henbane flowers... one of the most famous herbs of the solanaceae family, used by the witches and herbalists in ancient times. These highly poisonous plants, were supposedly used in small quantities to create different kinds of potions... including the classical "flying" ointments, for its hallucinogenic effects.

As a curiosity, the Henbane is also famous for its association with Circe, the great sorceress Goddess in literature, who allegedly used it to turn Odysseus' crew into swine!

The full moon and the black crow represents the power of the Dark Goddess: Hekate, Morrigan, Inanna, Ceridwen, Lilith, Kali... the great spirit who govern the night and its arcane secrets, the crossroads, the underworld, the life and death...

Este es el primer diseño a tinta de mi serie "Bones & Nature", titulado CROW HENBANE: Un cráneo de cuervo a la luz de la luna, con garras cruzadas y decorado con flores de Beleño... una de las plantas más famosas de la familia de las solanáceas, utilizada por brujas y herbolarios en la antigüedad. Estas plantas altamente venenosas, supuestamente se usaban en pequeñas cantidades para crear diferentes tipos de pociones... incluyendo los clásicos ungüentos "voladores", por sus efectos alucinógenos.

Como curiosidad, el Beleño es también conocido por su asociación con Circe, la gran Diosa hechicera en la literatura, que presuntamente lo utilizó para convertir a la tripulación de Odiseo en cerdos!

La luna llena y el cuervo negro representan el poder de la Diosa Oscura: Hécate, Morrigan, Inanna, Ceridwen, Lilith, Kali... el gran espíritu que gobierna la noche y sus secretos arcanos, las encrucijadas, el inframundo, la vida y la muerte...
