In popular legends and tales from the basque tradition, the witchcraft is a very recurrent theme because of the strong pagan roots which persist still today at this country so ancient and beautiful.
The image of the "Sorgina" (Witch in euskera), is reminiscent of the antique and strong matriarchal culture that there was at the basque country, territory formerly called Vasconia; a truly symbol of the natural wisdom of women of times past... but currently, we know more about the distorted and basically wicked image of the witches, popularized unfortunately by the catholic inquisition; today a very romantic or fantastic stereotype for the children's stories, and sometimes even endearing... but very far removed from the real concept of witchcraft.
"LAINO GUZTIEN AZPITIK, SASI GUZTIEN GAINETIK!"
It was the secret summoning of the basque witches in these popular legends to rise into the air and to attend the sabbath. The translation of this magic words would be approximately something like this: "Below all clouds, above all brambles!"
Inspired by this curious invocation, I decided to create this brambles wreath to decorate my door... I love its dark and ancient appearance, and most importantly, totally blessed to protect the home!

En las leyendas y cuentos populares de la tradición vasca, la brujería es un tema muy recurrente debido a las fuertes raíces paganas que todavía hoy persisten en este país tan antiguo y hermoso.
La imagen de la "Sorgina" (Bruja en euskera) es una reminiscencia de la antigua y fuerte cultura matriarcal que existía en el País Vasco, territorio llamado anteriormente Vasconia; un verdadero símbolo de la sabiduría natural de las mujeres de antaño... pero actualmente, conocemos más sobre la imagen distorsionada y básicamente perversa de las brujas, popularizada desgraciadamente por la inquisición católica; hoy en día un estereotipo muy romántico o fantástico para los cuentos infantiles, a veces incluso entrañable... pero muy alejado del concepto real de la brujería.
"LAINO GUZTIEN AZPITIK, SASI GUZTIEN GAINETIK!"
Esta era la invocación secreta de las brujas vascas en estas leyendas populares para elevarse en el aire y asistir al akelarre. La traducción de estas palabras mágicas sería aproximádamente algo así: "¡Por debajo de todas las nubes, por encima de todas las zarzas!"
Inspirada por esta curiosa invocación, decidí crear esta guirnalda de zarzas para adornar mi puerta... ¡Me encanta esa apariencia oscura y antigua, y lo más importante, totalmente bendecida para proteger el hogar!
