Ram Eguzkilore

Aker Dantzaria Ink Design Ram Skull Eguzkilore Pagan Horned God Pan Faun by Victoria Francés
- RAM EGUZKILORE -

RAM EGUZKILORE is the last ink design of my "Bones & Nature" serie: a ram skull decorated with ears of wheat and with an Eguzkilore on the top, the flower of the Sun in the ancient basque tradition.

The ram is another of the animals associated with the Horned God. In this design in particular, I've wanted to represent especially the solar energy of his divine and inmense power, the eternal wheel that governs our lives and the yearly cycle of growth, maturation and harvest. The Horned God is the seed that grows on earth to celebrate the fertility with the Goddess, symbol of the golden and brilliant sunlight, without which life couldn't exist...

The spiraled-horns of the ram reminds us to the great God Pan, as well as to the mythological fauns and satyrs of the ancient Greece; creatures of the deep woods with human appearance from the head to the waist, but with the legs and horns of a goat.
The God Pan of the antique Greek mythology is the Lord of nature, who protects the animals and flocks; is once again associated with the fertility and was usually represented surrounded by nymphs and by the enchanted music of the woods... but, sadly, this divinity was also victim of the catholic church, considering him as the devil or the father of lies, He who brings the evil and the sinful temptation.

On the other hand, I've included a mystical Eguzkilore on the top of the composition; the flower of the Sun, according to the ancient basque culture. This beautiful and colossal wild thistle, called Carlina Acaulis, was traditionally hunged on the doors to keep bad spirits away from the country houses.

I really hope you like it!!!
