I recently found this beautiful and mythical lady hiding in the shadows of the forest... Her name is well known to everyone: Belladonna, the so called "Deadly Nightshade" of the Solanaceae family. Another of the great Queens of the poison garden! 🌿
The direct relation of this plant with the history of witchcraft goes back to ancestral times. Everybody has heard some of the mysterious legends about her arcane powers and lethal beauty... so fascinating and scary at the same time, just like a dark goddess whose breadth and depth pass our knowledge. 🌒
The term "Atropa" refers to 'Atropos', one of the three Moirai (the sisters of fate of the Greek mythology) whose main role clearly was that of cut the thread of life. And the name "Belladonna", means in Italian 'Beautiful Woman', due the use of this plant by the Renaissance women to dilate the pupils of the eyes in order to increase their attractiveness.
Because beauty crosses borders... including those that lead to death! 💀

He encontrado recientemente a esta bella y mítica dama, oculta en las sombras del bosque... Su nombre es sobradamente conocido por todos: Belladona, la también llamada "Solano Mayor" de la familia Solanaceae. ¡Otra de las grandes Reinas del jardín de los venenos! 🌿
La relación directa de esta planta con la historia de la brujería se remonta a tiempos ancestrales. Todo el mundo ha escuchado a lo largo de su vida alguna de las misteriosas leyendas sobre sus poderes arcanos y belleza letal... tan fascinante y temida al mismo tiempo, como una Diosa Oscura cuya amplitud y profundidad sobrepasa nuestro entendimiento 🌒
El término "Atropa" se refiere a 'Átropos', una de las tres Moiras (las hilanderas del destino en la mitología griega) cuyo papel principal era claramente el de cortar el hilo de la vida. Y el nombre "Belladonna", significa en italiano 'Mujer Hermosa', debido al uso que hacían de esta planta las mujeres del Renacimiento para dilatar las pupilas de sus ojos con el fin de incrementar su atractivo.
Y es que la belleza atraviesa fronteras... ¡incluyendo aquellas que conducen hasta la muerte! 💀
